Accor is advancing its footprint in the Greek luxury hospitality sector with key developments across its Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery, and Emblems brands. The opening of Athens Capital Suites – MGallery Collection, the brand’s first standalone MGallery Suites concept globally, highlights Greece’s role as a growing hub for Accor’s European luxury portfolio.
Athens Capital Suites adds 19 new suites and a two-level presidential suite to the existing Athens Capital Hotel – MGallery Collection, raising the total to 177 rooms. The design draws from 1930s Athenian architecture and local artistic elements, including Parthenon-style marble bathrooms and curated Greek artworks. Located near Syntagma Square, the property integrates discreet urban luxury and cultural authenticity. Athens Capital Hotel ranks among MGallery’s highest-performing properties worldwide, reflecting its consistent guest satisfaction and service standards.
Looking ahead, Accor announced plans for a new MGallery hotel in Chania, Crete, slated to open in 2026. The 201-room development aims to blend architectural elegance with a strong local cultural identity, further expanding Accor’s presence in the Mediterranean market. Additionally, the Elatos Resort, Emblems Collection, is scheduled to return to the Greek market the same year, reinforcing Accor’s engagement with mountain resorts in the region.
“Greece has become a central pillar in our luxury expansion strategy across Europe. The country already hosts three iconic properties – Sofitel Athens Airport, Athens Capital Hotel – MGallery Collection, and NIKO Seaside Resort Crete – MGallery Collection. The launch of Athens Capital Suites – MGallery Collection is a global first, in a city that embodies timeless elegance and cultural authenticity. With our expansion in Chania, we are not only broadening our footprint – we are creating unique, enriching experiences that last well beyond the stay. The Greeks’ ability to blend heritage, hospitality, and emotional depth perfectly aligns with the DNA of our luxury brands” – Maud Bailly, General Manager of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery, and Emblems
Accor’s approach leverages local partnerships to offer immersive guest experiences anchored in design and storytelling rooted in Greece’s diverse landscapes. Accor has showed also in the past the preference for Greece, with the addition of Elatos Resort to the Emblems Collection.
The developments in 2024 and the projected growth into 2025 demonstrate Accor’s strategic commitment to evolving luxury hospitality in Greece, focusing on design, cultural integration, and personalized experiences that extend beyond conventional stays.
