The hotel, situated on a private five-hectare island, offers views of the Venetian lagoon while remaining just an eight-minute boat ride from the cultural center of Venice, San Marco Square. The hotel will be managed by Mandarin Oriental until November 2025, when it will close for an extensive renovation. The renovation, which will take place in three phases, will rebrand the property as Mandarin Oriental, Venice, with an expected reopening in April 2026.

We are delighted to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service to Venice. This historic property, with its unique location and rich heritage, aligns perfectly with our vision to craft immersive experiences that allow guests to connect meaningfully with the destination.” The hotel adds to Mandarin Oriental’s growing presence in Italy, complementing its existing properties in Milan and Lake Como, along with upcoming openings in Rome, Cortina, and Porto Cervo. – Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental

The hotel will offer a range of amenities, including a designated children’s area for younger guests. Guests will also have access to four dining options, along with The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, which will feature various treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, steam bath, multi-sensory showers, and a relaxation lounge. Additionally, the hotel’s renowned spa therapies will be complemented by wellness features such as a yoga pavilion, an outdoor pool, and tennis and paddle courts.

The renovation will be led by the design studio, Albion Nord, and will include the restoration of the 900-year-old monastery buildings, which house 136 rooms and suites. The redesigned property will blend Venetian architecture with Mandarin Oriental’s style.

“We are delighted to partner with Mandarin Oriental to usher in a new era for the San Clemente Palace. As one of Venice’s most storied private islands, this landmark deserves the legendary service and refined hospitality that Mandarin Oriental is renowned for.” – Emir Uyar, Vice President of Permak Investment

Mandarin Oriental is expanding its presence in Southern Europe, with recent openings in Italy and Greece. In Italy, the brand operates Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como and will rebrand the San Clemente Palace Hotel in Venice in 2026. The group has also strengthened its footprint in Greece with Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino and plans to open a new property near Athens by 2027.
