The 228-room Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is now open. The hotel includes indoor and outdoor pools, several dining venues and more than 14,000 square feet of event space.

The six-story property, developed by Sunflower Development Group in collaboration with Homefield KC and Margaritaville, is located in Village West near the Kansas Speedway. It includes 11 suites, outdoor and indoor recreational facilities, and food and beverage outlets open to guests and visitors.

“This isn’t just a hotel – it’s a destination,” said Greg Maday, co-owner of Homefield KC. “We wanted to create something that brings a true resort-style experience to Kansas City, and Margaritaville’s energy, design and approach to fun are a perfect fit for this area.”

Dining options include LandShark Bar & Grill, a two-story venue with indoor and outdoor seating for up to 300, serving American dishes and offering live music during the week. The 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, located on the pool deck, serves frozen drinks and shareable plates. Additional options include Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions, a grab-and-go market, and the LandShark Lobby Bar.

“It’s been an absolute honor to help build this hotel into a true escape for our guests. None of it would be possible without our amazing team,” said Zac Alft, general manager. “We have the privilege of welcoming travelers and showing them what Midwest hospitality truly means. We’re committed to creating a casual luxury experience, and we’re excited to share that with guests for years to come.”

Executive chef Reese Strong leads the culinary team. His previous experience includes roles at Ricco’s Italian Bistro, Jack Stack Barbecue and North Italia.

Outdoor amenities include a zero-entry pool with in-water seating, a waterslide, fire pits, hammocks, lawn games and cabanas equipped with ceiling fans, TVs and mini refrigerators. The indoor pool, open year-round, features a basketball hoop, climbing wall and retractable obstacle course. Additional facilities include the Fins Up! Fitness Center and Fin City Family Entertainment Center, as well as a 2,000-square-foot Margaritaville retail store.

Guestrooms feature tropical décor, private balconies in select rooms, and amenities such as 65-inch Smart TVs, mini fridges, coffee makers, bathrobes and in-room safes. Pet-friendly rooms are available upon request. The Jimmy Buffett Suite includes a king bed, whirlpool tub, kitchenette, dining area and direct access to the pool deck.

Event spaces include the 300-person Compass Rose Ballroom, the 160-capacity Coral Reef Ballroom and a junior ballroom that can be divided into four rooms with private patios.

“As the only full-service conference hotel in Wyandotte County, we’re excited to welcome everything from business meetings and corporate retreats to weddings and charity galas,” added Alft. “Our spaces offer the flexibility and style that planners are looking for, plus a little extra personality.”
