The new 80-room hotel brings a new perspective to the area, offering an experience inspired by the fictional character Marcus, a comic-book-style adventurer.
The Marcus Portrush occupies a restored Victorian building that previously housed a hotel and bakery for over 85 years. The £11 million renovation preserved historic elements, including original signage and floor mosaics, while incorporating modern design elements reflecting the local coastal landscape. The hotel’s storytelling-driven design connects to the town’s seafaring past, offering guests an immersive experience.
“Northern Ireland has seen a strong rise in tourism in recent years, drawing travellers from around the world to experience its unique charm. As the only internationally branded hotel in Portrush, The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, offers high-quality accommodation with an authentic local touch.” – Stephen Cassidy, senior vice president, UK & Ireland at Hilton
The hotel features a range of amenities, including Nemesis, an Asian fusion restaurant inspired by Marcus’s travels, and the Heritage Cocktail Bar. Guests can explore local attractions such as the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Giant’s Causeway. The hotel is also strategically opening ahead of the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush, making it a prime location for visitors attending the event.
Developed under a franchise agreement with Andras House Ltd, Northern Ireland’s largest hotel group, The Marcus Hotel Portrush is expected to contribute £1.1 million annually to the local economy and create over 40 permanent jobs.
