The hotel is strategically positioned near Omonia Square, offering guests easy access to iconic attractions such as the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, and Plaka.

“We’re proud to have secured this outstanding project and to contribute our deep expertise in converting distinctive urban buildings into high-performing lifestyle properties,” “Athens represents an exciting next step for Ruby’s development and perfectly embodies the type of vibrant, culturally rich destination where our Lean Luxury philosophy comes to life. Together with our partner Primetown Development and in strategic alignment with the IHG brand family, we look forward to bringing this hotel to life in the centre of Athens. » – (Mrs) Catherine Hilt, Associate Director Development, Southern Europe at the Ruby Group.

Developed in partnership with Primetown Development, the €20m development will be expanding at 3,200 m² and will include a 24/7 bar, a breakfast area, a rooftop space with panoramic views, and a pool terrace on the fifth floor.

“We are excited to be partnering with Ruby Group and IHG on a project that redefines contemporary hospitality in the heart of Athens. Our aim is to breathe new life into this iconic building and create a space that reflects the creative energy and cultural dynamism of the city. This hotel is more than a property – it’s a statement about the future of Athens as a vibrant, globally relevant destination.”  – (Mr) Sotirios Athinaios, Partner at Primetown Development

This new property aligns with Ruby’s growth strategy in culturally rich urban destinations, offering a blend of contemporary design and high-quality amenities for both tourists and locals.

“Ruby Hotels coming to Athens demonstrates the continued appetite from travelers for a premium urban lifestyle brand in one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations. The signing of Ruby Hotels in Athens is a unique opportunity to grow the brand in new locations and further cements IHG’s portfolio in Greece, where we now have ten open and pipeline hotels. We look forward to working alongside the Ruby Group, with their experience in transforming architectural heritage into modern Lean Luxury experiences and creating a unique stay for guests. The hotel’s central location within the vibrant hub of Athens will make it a destination for both travelers and locals looking for a perfect base for exploring the city’s diverse offering.” – (Mrs) Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts

This project, integrated into the premium portfolio of IHG Hotels & Resorts following IHG’s acquisition of the Ruby brand in 2025, will contribute to IHG’s growing presence in Greece, with the country now seeing a total of ten properties in operation or development.

Ruby Hotels is continuing its expansion in Southern Europe with several new projects in Italy. The brand’s first hotel in Rome, set to open in spring 2025, is being developed by ECE and will be operated by Ruby Hotels. This follows the brand’s recent openings in Florence, where Ruby Bea and Ruby Dante have added to Ruby Hotels’ growing presence in Italy. These new developments highlight Ruby Hotels’ ongoing commitment to expanding its footprint in key European cities.
