Salamander Washington DC has joined Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection. The membership places the property among a global group of luxury hotels recognized for design, service and location.
Located along Washington’s Southwest waterfront near the District Wharf, the 373-room hotel recently completed a full property transformation and now features redesigned communal spaces, updated guest suites, a two-story spa and the restaurant Dōgon by New Yorker chef Kwame Onwuachi.
“We are honored that Salamander Washington DC has been designated by Preferred Hotels & Resorts as a new member of its prestigious Legend Collection – joining a distinguished portfolio of properties in the world’s most remarkable destinations,” said Prem Devadas, president of Salamander Collection. “This is our company’s fourth property to be accepted into the Legend Collection, and it reflects our commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience – one that blends world-class design, intuitive guest service, spa, and culinary innovations with a deep connection to the culture and energy of Washington, D.C.”

The reimagined lobby and Living Room Lounge include curated art, expanded terrace seating and access to a landscaped courtyard. Each of the 51 guest suites was redesigned by interior designer Thomas Pheasant and include custom furniture and detailed finishes. In addition, the new Salamander Spa offers wellness therapies, a fitness center and an indoor pool overlooking the Potomac River.
“We’ve proudly partnered with Salamander Collection for more than 15 years, and it’s been a pleasure to witness their continued evolution and commitment to excellence,” said Dan Coyle, executive vice president of the United States and Canada for Preferred Hotels & Resorts. “The addition of Salamander Washington DC to our Legend Collection is a milestone that reflects the property’s revitalized design and thoughtful enhancements, and we are thrilled to see this iconic destination take its place among the most distinguished properties in the world.”
Preferred Hotels & Resorts operates four collections: Legend, L.V.X., Lifestyle and Preferred Residences. Each member must meet the company’s Integrated Quality Assurance standards.
