Strategically located in the heart of Hannover Medical Park, a hub for economic activity, research, and healthcare, the Leonardo Hannover Medical Park is set to serve business travelers, event attendees, and international visitors.
The hotel will feature 208 rooms, combining 112 rooms from the former Mercure Hotel and 96 rooms from the ibis Hotel. The Mercure portion of the hotel will reopen in July 2025, while the ibis section will temporarily close for modernization before reopening in the fourth quarter of 2025. Furthermore, future amenities will include restaurants, bars, a lounge with a corner billiards area, a terrace complete with an outdoor pool and an equipped gym.
“This strategic move sends out a clear signal in Hanover and across the wider region. We are strengthening our local presence and underlining our long-term commitment to the German market.” – Yoram Biton, Managing Director Central Europe, Leonardo Hotels
The newly created hotel will also offer extensive conference facilities, including seven flexible meeting rooms spanning 381 square meters, with the largest accommodating up to 140 people. This new addition brings Leonardo Hotels’ total number of hotels in Hanover to three, with nearly 30 conference rooms across the city, positioning the brand as a significant player in the local MICE market.
“This acquisition adds a hotel of great potential to our portfolio. This new location is a perfect complement to our long-term growth strategy on the German market.” – Jan Heringa, Vice President of Development and Project Management at Leonardo Hotels
Leonardo Hotels continues to expand its footprint in Germany with two significant developments. The brand is set to open the Leonardo Mainz in August 2025, marking its expansion in the Rhine-Main region. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations to offer modern accommodations for both leisure and business travelers. Additionally, Leonardo Hotels has further enhanced its portfolio in Germany with the addition of Badischer Hof Baden-Baden to its Leonardo Limited Edition collection, starting on May 1st.
These moves reflect the brand’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its presence in key German cities and regions.
