Hilton has opened The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the brand’s debut in Northern Ireland. The 80-room hotel is set in a restored Victorian building and opens ahead of golf’s 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

The property, located along the North Atlantic coast, blends coastal charm and historical detail. The £11 million renovation preserved original features such as mosaic signage, decorative floor mosaics and a tiled façade. Historic photographs throughout the hotel reflect Portrush’s heritage as a Victorian seaside resort.

“Northern Ireland has seen a strong rise in tourism in recent years, drawing travelers from around the world to experience its unique charm. As the only internationally branded hotel in Portrush, The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, offers high-quality accommodation with an authentic local touch—making it the perfect base for visitors eager to explore all that Northern Ireland has to offer,” said Stephen Cassidy, senior vice president, UK & Ireland, Hilton.

The hotel’s design is inspired by a fictional character named Marcus, with comic-style illustrations and displays of imagined travel artifacts. Guests can explore interiors that connect with the town’s seafaring past, and younger visitors receive a complimentary copy of The Adventures of Marcus.

The Marcus Portrush features an Asian fusion restaurant, Nemesis, with dishes such as Irish sirloin steak with bone marrow butter and Asian steak sauce, and Korean bibimbap with beef, vegetables, kimchi and a fried egg. The Heritage Cocktail Bar offers drinks crafted from Irish spirits, including the Orra Margarita made with Poitín and mango.

Nearby attractions include the Giant’s Causeway and the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery. The hotel opens in time to welcome guests attending the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club from July 13–20, 2025.

“I am delighted to be welcoming our first guests to this exciting and high-profile project. Portrush has so much history and fond memories created here over the years, and our architects and designers have responded by delivering a scheme that embody these stories in a modern style. This investment of £11million will bring much needed modern hotel accommodation to the area, helping to regenerate the Main Street of Portrush and secure its future as a must-go tourism destination,” said Rajesh Rana, director at Andras House.

Developed under a franchise agreement with Andras House Ltd, the project is expected to create more than 40 permanent jobs and generate £1.1 million in annual visitor spending.
