Accor: Continued growth despite geopolitical uncertainties

Accor posted positive results for the first half of 2025, despite challenging macroeconomic conditions and negative currency effects. RevPAR rose 4.6% year-on-year, supported by a 5.1% increase in revenue at constant exchange rates.

The group also recorded current EBITDA of €552 million, up 9.4% (or 13.4% at constant exchange rates).

“These solid performances confirm the quality of our brand portfolio and the relevance of our diversified geographic presence.” – Sébastien Bazin, CEO of Accor

Accor has opened 117 hotels in Europe, representing more than 15,000 rooms, bringing its total hotel portfolio to 854,695 rooms. The group continues to confirm its growth prospects, with an estimated increase in RevPAR of between 3% and 4% for 2025.

The Europe North Africa (ENA) region, which accounts for a significant portion of Accor’s revenue, performed particularly well, with a 3.3% increase in RevPAR, driven by higher occupancy rates, particularly in France.

However, markets such as the United Kingdom and Germany showed more moderate performance, mainly due to difficult economic conditions.

Meliá: Sustained growth and ambitious expansion strategy

Meliá Hotels International also posted strong results for the first half of 2025, with revenue per available room (RevPAR) up 4.7% year-on-year. The group achieved consolidated revenue of €991.1 million, an increase of 3.2%.

Meliá also showed strong cash flow generation, with a significant improvement in bank financing expenses, which were reduced by 40.2%.

“Meliá’s results confirm the trend of sustained and normalized growth in demand, with RevPAR growing at a steady pace.” – Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, President of Meliá Hotels

The group also highlighted its expansion plans, with the opening of 11 new hotels and the signing of 20 new contracts, while continuing to strengthen its presence in key destinations. Meliá plans to sign between 30 and 40 new hotels by the end of 2025.

The group continues to focus on expansion in the luxury segment, with the opening of new hotels under its premium and luxury brands, such as Paradisus in Fuerteventura and ME in Lisbon. Luxury hotels performed particularly well, contributing 30% of Meliá’s total revenue in 2024.

The outlook for Meliá is also positive, with RevPAR growth expected to continue in the second half of 2025, supported by strong demand for leisure hotels and growth in bookings.

A complex environment but robust growth

Accor and Meliá continue to demonstrate their resilience in the face of global economic challenges. Accor emphasizes geographic and brand diversification to support its growth, while Meliá relies on its positioning in the luxury segments and its mixed expansion strategy to continue growing.

Both groups are well positioned to take advantage of market opportunities while adapting to changing conditions in the sector.
