Hotel Granada in Atlanta’s Midtown has joined the Design Hotels portfolio, a collection of independent hotels under the auspices of Marriott International recognized for architecture among other traits. The membership also brings participation in Marriott Bonvoy, giving access to loyalty rewards and benefits for global travelers.

“We are honored to be welcomed into the Design Hotels family,” said Kevin Vaughan, founder of Monomoy Property Ventures, a lead developer behind Hotel Granada’s recent rejuvenation. “The property was reimagined with deep respect for its century-long history, while incorporating an artful, contemporary lens to Atlanta’s cultural identity. Design Hotels’ commitment to authenticity and thoughtful design is a perfect match for our property. We are thrilled to partner with Marriott Bonvoy, the leading global loyalty program, while retaining Granada’s unique character within Atlanta’s hospitality landscape.”

“Hotel Granada embodies the true spirit of Design Hotels – boldly individual, deeply local, and thoughtfully designed,” said Stijn Oyen, managing director at Design Hotels. “Its seamless blend of historic preservation, contemporary style and celebration of Atlanta’s artistic community make it a standout addition to our collection.”

Originally built in 1924 as the Granada Apartments, the property underwent a restoration led by Monomoy Property Ventures and Scarp Ridge Capital Partners. The hotel opened in August 2024 after a two-year renovation and redevelopment, offering 120 rooms. The central courtyard connected to the lobby serves as a gathering space for Midtown and is home to its restaurant Pom Court. May Peel, a cocktail lounge and event space, is located beneath the hotel.

Design work was led by MetroStudio and interior designer Cameron Carr. The aesthetic blends Spanish Colonial roots with Southern elements such as terracotta, handcrafted millwork, bold colors and art from local artists. References to Atlanta include corridor wallpaper with Crepe Myrtle blooms and Olympic torches, along with ceramic bowls by Katie Troisi.

Hotel Granada incorporates regional creativity through a partnership with the Savannah College of Art and Design. Works from SCAD alumni include Liz Robb, Angela Burson, Juliana Lupacchino, Abigail Chase Miller and Abel Macias. The lobby features a café serving Portrait Coffee.

The property offers a range of rooms and suites with residential layouts, velvet furnishings, Grown Alchemist amenities and curated minibars. The Mosaic and Piedmont suites provide additional space and finishes, while the courtyard, club level meeting space and boardroom accommodate gatherings and events.
