The Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool has reopened its restaurant under a new name, North Sixty4, following an £87k refurbishment.

Named in reference to its North John Street location and the Beatles song When I’m Sixty-Four, the relaunch marks the first major upgrade to the space since the hotel opened in 2008.

While still drawing on the legacy of the Beatles – the hotel remains the only Beatles-themed hotel in the world – the redesigned venue expands its focus to include a broader celebration of Liverpool’s cultural and musical history. Tributes include nods to figures such as Cilla Black and Atomic Kitten, as well as references to the city’s sporting achievements.

The rebrand is intended to give the 98-cover restaurant a distinct identity, separate from the hotel. Leading the venue is general manager Liam Baker-Bellew, the first Liverpool-born manager of the site and brother of former boxer Tony Bellew.

The refurbishment, which took six months, has introduced chandelier-style lighting, marble-style tables and faux-leather seating in red and gold tones. Large windows offer natural light during the day, while evenings aim to evoke a cabaret-style atmosphere.

Further decorative updates are planned, including red iron gates inspired by Strawberry Field and a zebra crossing motif at the entrance in homage to the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover.

A new menu, created by food and beverage manager Jack Moss, features a mix of grill dishes – including sirloin steak, lamb chops and roast chicken – alongside pasta and fish options such as sea bass in saffron sauce. British staples like steak pie, bangers and mash, and fish and chips are also featured.

Alfie Abbott, business development manager at the hotel, said: “We felt that the restaurant needed to reflect more of the city – its warmth, charm and personality – as well as, of course, the Beatles.

“We want to offer something for everyone, with a casual dining style and elements of fine dining in terms of service and surroundings. It’s about accessibility – people shouldn’t have to break the bank to have a great night out.”
