Mad Concepts Group, the parent company to Jakes Burgers and Beer and Tacos & Avocados, has named Kendra Shier as president of both concepts, effective immediately, the company said Tuesday.

The Addison, Texas-based company said Shier had been with Jakes since 2017.

“Kendra brings a rare blend of strategic insight, creative energy, and people-first leadership to everything she touches,” Bob Gregg, Mad Concepts Group’s cofounder and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

Jakes Burgers and Beer, founded in Dallas in 1985, has 12 locations in North Texas. Tacos & Avocados, opened in November 2024, offers a Mexican-inspired menu. It has one location in Carrollton, Texas.

Previously, Shier served as vice president of operations for Bread Winners Café & Bakery, a Dallas-Fort Worth concept.

“She’s been at the heart of Jakes’ growth for nearly a decade, and her impact on Tacos & Avocados has already been profound. We’re thrilled to see her lead both brands into their next chapter,” Courtney Lindley, cofounder of Mad Concepts, said in a statement.

“Jakes and Tacos & Avocados each have their own unique soul, and I’m excited to build on their strengths while creating new opportunities for our people through growth, connection, and an unwavering focus on the guest experience,” Shier said.
