Mandarin Oriental is entering the South Korean hotel market with the opening of a new luxury hotel in Seoul in 2030. The property will be located in the Central Business District, north of the Han River, among cultural landmarks, business addresses and lifestyle destinations.
“Seoul is a dynamic cultural and economic hub and we are proud to be announcing our entry into this important market. Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will reflect our commitment to thoughtful growth, offering an experience that captures the essence of the destination while delivering the legendary service and design our guests expect,” said Laurent Kleitman, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental.
With 128 rooms and suites, the hotel’s design is intended to offer a residential look and feel. Its event spaces will include a grand ballroom, function rooms and an outdoor terrace for business or social use.
Among its culinary offerings, the 21st floor will house a destination restaurant with views of Seoul. Two culinary concepts on the 20th floor will have different approaches: one with an international style similar to SOMM at Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark Hong Kong, and another specializing in Chinese cuisine. Also on the 20th floor, a Korean Chef’s Counter will provide a high-end, theatrical dining experience. On the ground floor, a bar, lounge and The Mandarin Cake Shop will serve as spaces for both visitors and locals. Several of the dining outlets will include private dining rooms.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will span four floors and incorporate Korean healing traditions with advanced therapies, including traditional healing, future bathing, K-beauty, mind reset and body performance. Facilities will feature a 25-meter swimming pool, fitness center and outdoor terrace. Additional amenities will include a golf academy with simulators, a multiball court, a games room and a kids’ club.
Mandarin Oriental, Seoul will join the group’s portfolio of Asian properties and represent a milestone in its global expansion strategy.
