OTH Hotels Resorts (OTH), a Virginia-based hospitality management company with an asset portfolio exceeding $775 million, has been entrusted to assume management of The Virginian Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton. This iconic architectural landmark, located in the heart of downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, has long been regarded as a cornerstone of the city’s cultural history.

First opened in 1913 and designed in the distinguished Beaux-Arts style by Verus T. Ritter, The Virginian has stood as a symbol of refined hospitality for more than a century. Its sweeping arched windows, vaulted lobby ceilings, curved skylights, and grand marble staircase evoke a sense of timeless grandeur. After decades of adaptive use, including a period as the first dormitory for Lynchburg Baptist College, now Liberty University, the property underwent an extensive restoration and reopened in 2018 as a Four-Diamond Curio Collection by Hilton hotel, seamlessly blending historic elegance with modern sophistication. Today, the hotel features art deco furnishings, original marble and plasterwork, intricate millwork, and ornamental iron details offering a nod to the building’s storied past. Its 4,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom remains the city’s premier gathering place for milestone celebrations, from elegant weddings to corporate events, and milestone celebrations.

“As a distinctive luxury property with a rich history and a strong brand affiliation within Hilton’s esteemed Curio Collection, The Virginian Hotel is an exciting addition to our management portfolio,” said Mack Sims, Vice President of Planning & Culture at OTH Hotels Resorts. “Building on The Virginian’s legacy of excellence, our team will leverage its expertise in the lifestyle segment to deliver tailored operating strategies, elevated guest experiences, and strong results that ensure its continued success.”

Guests of The Virginian Hotel also enjoy Skyline Grill, downtown Lynchburg’s only rooftop restaurant, featuring refined dining paired with panoramic city views. Additional amenities include flexible meeting and event venues, state-of-the-art technology, and thoughtfully designed accommodations. It’s ideal location places visitors steps from the James River Heritage Trail and the city’s vibrant arts district, providing both business and leisure travelers with an authentic connection to the “City of Seven Hills.”

We are thrilled to strengthen our presence here with the addition of this iconic hotel in our home state of Virginia. This landmark property not only reflects the kind of historically significant properties we’re passionate about managing, but it also speaks to our commitment to growth across the East Coast and beyond. Scott McMahon, Principal & Chief Development Officer of OTH Hotels Resorts

The addition of The Virginian Hotel is perfectly aligned with OTH’s ongoing east coast expansion and expertise in optimizing soft-branded lifestyle properties. Under OTH’s leadership, the hotel will continue to flourish as a historic jewel, offering first-class service, bespoke amenities, and an enduring sense of place.

The Virginian Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, is located at 712 Church St, Lynchburg, VA 24504. For more information visit www.thevirginianhotel.com.
