UKHospitality has launched an online tool to enable hospitality staff to contact their MPs as part of its #TaxedOut campaign, which calls for government action on the sector’s tax burden.
The tool provides a template letter that employees can adapt and send to MPs.
Similar resources have already been made available to hospitality businesses and members of the public.
The campaign is pressing for measures in the upcoming Budget, including changes to business rates, national insurance contributions and VAT.
UKHospitality said that it hoped employers would share the resource widely across their teams in the run-up to the Budget.
Kate Nicholls, chief executive of UKHospitality, said: “We know how passionately people who work in hospitality feel about the sector, so this new tool allows them to join the campaign, too.
“There are millions of people that have built a career in this sector and, critically, rely on it for employment and supporting their families. It’s so important that they can make their voice heard. I urge everyone involved in hospitality to share this tool with their teams and encourage them to write to their MPs.”
She added: “By uniting our voices, we can send a clear message to the government that the hospitality sector is being taxed out and needs urgent support in the forthcoming Budget.”
