We’re killing more plants by overwatering them than by forgetting to water them at all. In fact, overwatering is the #1 cause of houseplant death 😱
We think we’re helping.
We think action = progress.
But sometimes, the best intention causes the worst outcome.
I see the same thing happen in Revenue Management.
We feel like we always need to do something.
Change a rate. Push a new promo. A new report. Reforecast… again.
Because doing nothing? That feels risky.
(Probably need to justify our salary as well… sound familiar?)
But here’s the truth I’ve learned:
More action doesn’t always lead to better results.
Sometimes it just adds noise, creates confusion, and hides the real signal.
The best RM decisions I’ve seen come from patience, not panic.
From understanding the bigger picture and moving strategically. Not reacting to every blip on the dashboard.
Smart RM is knowing when to act and when to hold.
Let the data breathe. Let the strategy play out.
Then move, with purpose.
Have you ever done less and seen more come from it?
