North America’s 50 Best Restaurants were announced on September 25 at a live ceremony at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel. This marked 50 Best’s first time ranking restaurants specific to the North American continent.
The inaugural top 50 hail from the United States, Canada, and parts of the Caribbean. Mexico is absent from this list because the country is already included on Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
The big winner was Atomix, the New York City restaurant serving a 12-course Korean tasting menu. Each course is plated on bespoke ceramics and accompanied by a card explaining the dish’s ingredients, origin, and inspiration.
Mon Lapin in Montréal, Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Jordan Station, Ontario, Smyth in Chicago, and Tanière3 in Québec City, Québec, rounded out the top five.
New York City was dominant overall, scoring 13 restaurants in the top 50, more than twice that of any other city. San Francisco was next with six, followed by Montréal with five.

It wasn’t just huge cities that received nods. Restaurants in Denver, Charleston, Nashville, New Orleans, and Portland, Ore., also made the list, along with one restaurant each in Barbados and Jamaica.
Beyond the 50 Best list, a few other awards were doled out. SingleThread in Healdsburg, Calif., received the Sustainable Restaurant Award. Tanière3 was given the Art of Hospitality Award, and Ladder 4 in Detroit received the Resy One to Watch Award.
Michael Cimarusti, co-owner and chef of Providence in Los Angeles, has been awarded the Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award 2025, the only accolade voted for exclusively by fellow chefs. And Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon, chef-owner of Kalaya in Philadelphia, was named North America’s Best Female Chef.
In creating North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, votes were compiled from an anonymous 300-member academy of regional experts consisting of chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, educators, and experienced diners.
