Record temperatures, overcrowding and a bomb scare sum up this 190th edition of the famous Oktoberfest. Today, this major international event puts Munich in the spotlight on the tourist scene, much to the delight of its hoteliers. While the beer mugs were full, Munich’s hotels were just as full, with no fewer than 6.5 million visitors, a large proportion of whom were foreign festival-goers.
