WorldHotels Elite has added Akgün Istanbul Hotel to its portfolio, marking the brand’s return to Turkey. The hotel becomes the first property in the country under the WorldHotels Elite collection.

Located in Istanbul’s Surici District, Akgün Istanbul Hotel has operated since 1990. The property is near landmarks including Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Chora Museum and the Grand Bazaar. It is 30 meters from Topkapi Metro Station, providing access to areas such as Haliç Congress Center, Taksim Square and Istanbul Airport, located 40 kilometers away.

The hotel has 276 rooms, including deluxe rooms, junior suites and a presidential suite. Facilities include restaurants and bars serving Turkish and international cuisine, a spa and wellness center with Turkish bath and sauna, an outdoor pool and eight meeting rooms for up to 650 guests.

“Bringing back WorldHotels to the beautiful city of Istanbul is an important milestone for WorldHotels. We couldn’t imagine a better partner for this return than Akgün Istanbul Hotel, a true icon of Turkish hospitality. With this historic property in our portfolio, our 64 million+ loyalty members now have the opportunity to experience the rich culture, warmth and heritage of Türkiye in one of its most dynamic cities,” said Wytze van der Berg, vice president of international operations, EMEA, BWH Hotels.

Akgün Istanbul Hotel also hosts events such as weddings and private gatherings, using its ballroom and poolside venues.

“Akgün Istanbul Hotel, which has witnessed Istanbul’s thousand-year-old history, is now reaching a new milestone in its own journey. By joining the WorldHotels Elite collection, we are taking our vision of offering our guests not just a hotel, but an experience filled with memories, to a global platform. Every detail offers comfort, every corner tells a story and every stay brings rewarding and meaningful memories for every guest. Thank you for joining us on our journey,” said Özgür Köstekçi, general manager of Akgün Istanbul Hotel.

The addition of Akgün Istanbul Hotel represents WorldHotels’ reentry into Türkiye, aligning with the brand’s focus on growth in key global markets while maintaining the property’s independent identity and connection to Istanbul.
