Part of a £1 billion redevelopment project, Six Senses London will feature 109 rooms and suites, alongside 14 branded residences designed by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects.

At the heart of the property, guests will find a 2,300 m² wellness and social hub, including a Six Senses Spa and the first Six Senses Place in the UK — a private members’ club centred around wellbeing and conscious living.

“Six Senses Place will be a one-of-a-kind social club where wellness, community and celebration will meet, with sustainability at its core. Crafted experiences will be delivered with science, spirit and connection for the mind, body and soul. My aim will be to deliver out-of-the-ordinary experiences in this space, which will inspire the spirit of hospitality and raise the bar with our wellness offering.” Taffryn Kinsey Ellis, Director of Wellness at Six Senses London

This opening reinforces Six Senses’ strategy to extend its wellness expertise from resort destinations to key urban markets, in line with IHG’s broader development roadmap.

A new chapter for The Whiteley

The redevelopment of the former Whiteley shopping centre preserves the iconic Grade II-listed façade, its domed roof, central courtyard, and the grand staircase inspired by La Scala in Milan. Originally opened in 1863 by William Whiteley, the site’s transformation is led by Foster + Partners, merging architectural legacy with contemporary sustainability principles.

As part of this large-scale project, Six Senses London will anchor the new mixed-use complex, which also includes premium residences, restaurants, and retail spaces. The design combines Art Deco heritage with modern craftsmanship, reflecting the brand’s emphasis on emotional design and sensory balance.

Strategic positioning in a competitive market

For IHG, Six Senses London is more than a luxury opening — it represents a strategic reinvention of an urban landmark. Following the recent leadership transition at Six Senses , the project highlights IHG’s ability to repurpose heritage buildings while strengthening its portfolio in high-yield metropolitan markets.

The adaptive reuse of The Whiteley enables IHG to optimise capital expenditure, reduce environmental impact, and accelerate market entry, while meeting growing demand for sustainable, experience-led luxury.

Building on the brand’s growing momentum in Europe — including the upcoming Six Senses Comporta in Portugal, the London property is set to anchor IHG’s presence in the European wellness hospitality segment.
