Autograph Collection Hotels has opened its first property in the Maldives with the launch of The Halcyon Private Isles on Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The resort, part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection portfolio, occupies two private islands around 90 minutes by seaplane from Malé. The development draws inspiration from the travels of 19th Century British explorer H. C. P. Bell and the Greek myth of Alcyone, from which the resort takes its name.
The resort features 38 villas ranging from 220 to 1,250 square metres, each with private pools. Accommodation options include island and overwater villas, two-bedroom ocean villas and a three-bedroom Halcyon Grand Estate.
Guests are paired with a dedicated “Halcyon Butler” who coordinates personalised itineraries, marine excursions and in-villa dining. Other activities include diving, line fishing, coral planting and yoga sessions.
Dining venues include Thari, an all-day restaurant serving international and island dishes; Yuzu, offering Peruvian-Japanese cuisine; The Firepit, an open-air grill; and Yapa Sunset Bar, serving cocktails and tapas. Bell Bar, named after H. C. P. Bell, specialises in cocktails and rare spirits.
The resort’s wellbeing facilities include the overwater Halcyon Spa and a range of holistic programmes such as sunrise yoga, sound therapy and nutrition-based wellness plans. A supervised children’s programme offers eco-focused activities and coral restoration workshops.
Autograph Collection Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy, includes more than 30 brands and over 300 hotels globally.
Gautam Bhandari, senior vice president for hotel development and operations in Singapore and the Maldives at Marriott International, said: “The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives exemplifies the Autograph Collection ethos of individuality and immersive storytelling. From its exquisite design language to its intuitive service, every detail invites guests to slow down and engage meaningfully within the destination.”
