Ennismore will expand its presence in Spain with the launch of The Hoxton, Madrid, set to open in 2026 on Plaza de Santa Ana in the city’s historic centre.
The 192-room property will be the company’s first hotel in the Spanish capital and its second in the country, following The Hoxton, Poblenou, which opened in Barcelona in 2022.
The Hoxton, Madrid, will occupy a modernist building designed by architect Jesús Carrasco-Muñoz y Encina. Its refurbishment will be led by Petra AM with the support of Urban Input Group, which previously worked on Hoxton hotels in Paris and Barcelona.
The hotel will include a ground-floor coffee bar and lounge, a trattoria operated under Ennismore’s Il Bambini Club brand, and a rooftop venue named Cayo Coco, offering city views and a cocktail bar. The brand’s flexible events concept, The Apartment, will also feature as part of the design.
Sharan Pasricha, founder and co-chief executive of Ennismore, said: “We’re delighted to be growing The Hoxton’s portfolio with another exciting property in Spain. Madrid has long been on our radar, and this modernist gem of a building is going to be the perfect home for The Hoxton brand in a neighbourhood teeming with incredible culture, food and history.”
The company said the Madrid opening forms part of a wider European pipeline, with new Hoxton hotels planned in Oslo, Kraków and Hamburg, alongside developments in Melbourne and Nashville.
The announcement follows several recent openings by Ennismore across Spain. In early 2025, the group launched SLS Barcelona, its first European hotel under that brand. In 2024, it added Mondrian and Hyde properties in Ibiza and opened the fashion-inspired SO/ Sotogrande resort in Andalusia.
