Marriott International has opened a new boutique hotel in Cape Town’s Camps Bay under its Autograph Collection brand, marking the portfolio’s first property in the city.
Morea House, Autograph Collection, is a 90-room hotel located along the Camps Bay coastline, an area known for its beaches, promenade and views of the Atlantic Ocean and Twelve Apostles mountain range. The hotel joins Autograph Collection Hotels, a group of independent properties within Marriott Bonvoy.

The hotel has been designed by Cape Town-based interior architect Tristan du Plessis, with interiors that draw on natural materials such as timber, stone and bronze tones. Guestrooms and suites are oriented towards mountain, ocean or beachfront views, while public spaces include terraces, lounges and areas displaying work by South African artists.

Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, VP for premium, select and midscale brands for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International, said: “Morea House is our first Autograph Collection property in Cape Town, and it reflects the city’s spirit at every turn.”
The hotel includes several food and drink venues, including OMRI, a ground-floor restaurant serving Lebanese-inspired dishes using local ingredients, and a poolside restaurant on the second floor offering seasonal menus and ocean views. Other spaces include a courtyard area and a wine room for tastings and private events.
Wellness is positioned as a central part of the offering, with facilities including a spa, outdoor pool and organised activities such as yoga, coastal walks and guided hikes. The hotel also offers guided cold-water immersion experiences in the Atlantic Ocean.
Albert Smit, general manager of Morea House, added: “We want guests to leave restored, reconnected, and carrying with them the essence of this place.”
The opening adds to Marriott International’s footprint in South Africa, where the group operates a range of brands across major cities and leisure destinations.
