Big Mamma Group, known for its grand dining concepts, is expanding its presence in London with a new restaurant opening this June. Barbarella will be located in Canary Wharf’s YY Building and will offer a unique dining experience inspired by 1970s Italian cinema.

Big Mamma Group’s latest venture in London

Big Mamma Group continues to thrive in London with the opening of Barbarella, their sixth restaurant in the city. Situated in the YY Building, Barbarella promises to bring an extravagant dining experience, true to the group’s signature style.

This marks their first London restaurant launch since Carlotta opened two years ago, and it follows the success of their previous locations including Gloria, Carlotta, Circolo Popolare, Ave Mario, and Jacuzzi.

The restaurant’s design and ambiance will take inspiration from the glamorous 1970s Italian cinema scene. Guests will be greeted by mirrored ceilings, velvet walls, palm trees at the entrance, and a golden open kitchen. With a jungle-inspired interior and retro accents, Barbarella aims to offer more than just a meal but an experience.

“We’re landing in Canary Wharf with our most cinematic project yet: Barbarella. A bold new trattoria set inside the iconic YY Building, right on the docks.” says the team behind the concept

A dining experience like no other

Led by chef Marco Rastelli from Rome, Barbarella will offer a menu that reflects his culinary background. Guests can expect unique dishes such as the metre-long spaghettoni, crispy Ruota di Carretto pizzas, and Cornish sole filleted tableside. The restaurant will also offer an extensive cocktail menu.

Barbarella will also feature a dedicated gelato menu, and for those looking to dine on the terrace, there will be options to enjoy their meals while overlooking the scenic views of Canary Wharf.

Big Mamma’s vision for London

After expanding beyond London to cities such as Birmingham and Manchester, Big Mamma Group is bringing its signature style back to the capital. The group’s expansion in London is a reflection of its success, with Barbarella being a pivotal part of their ongoing growth in the city.

“Barbarella is not just a restaurant, it’s a love letter to 70s Italian glamour,” the team adds, highlighting their commitment to offering unique dining experiences in iconic locations. And this announcement follows the recent opening of Gloria Osteria, a new addition to Barcelona’s culinary scene.
