Hotel del Coronado has completed the revitalization of its Victorian building, finalizing a property-wide restoration valued at more than $550 million. The announcement marks the culmination of Blackstone Real Estate’s multi-year effort to enhance the historic resort.

“From its earliest days, Hotel del Coronado has been a pioneer, continuously redefining the resort experience,” said JP Oliver, managing director, Hotel del Coronado. “After this transformative journey, we are proud to set a new benchmark for resort excellence and continue exceeding expectations for a new era of guests and visitors.”

The restoration of the Victorian Neighborhood included the front porch and lobby, the main entry and drive experience, all guestrooms, the garden courtyard, and event venues such as the Crown Room. Two new dining venues also debuted: Nobu Del Coronado and Veranda.

“Blackstone has been dedicated to preserving Hotel del Coronado’s iconic status as a National Historic Landmark while ensuring it remains a timeless destination for future generations. We are so proud of the thoughtful collaboration that brought this more than $550 million project to fruition and are thrilled by Hotel del Coronado’s transformation into a modern, premier hotel for the enjoyment of guests, visitors, and the San Diego community,” said Rob Harper, head of asset management Americas at Blackstone Real Estate.

Design collaborators included Wimberly Interiors with WATG, GSB Inc., Burton Studios, and David Marshall of Heritage Architecture & Planning.

Guestrooms in the Victorian building now feature reimagined interiors with floral textiles, wood tones, and woven vinyl raffia headboards. Bathrooms include marble checkerboard flooring and vanities modeled after antique washstands. Lighting and furnishings integrate modern and traditional elements, while artwork reflects vintage themes with contemporary execution.

The new Veranda restaurant honors the property’s original 1888 wraparound veranda. The menu features dishes such as grilled California artichokes, broiled West Coast oysters, and red mountain trout noisette. Nobu Del Coronado offers signature dishes like Black Cod with Miso and Squid ‘Pasta’ with Garlic Sauce, as well as regional offerings like Lobster Truffle Tempura. The space includes 156 seats, a sushi bar, and an oceanfront Pagoda Bar.

The Crown Room, Coronet Room, and Ocean Ballroom have been restored with modern technology and preserved historical elements, including an 1888 fresco in the Ocean Ballroom. The central garden courtyard has been returned to its original design and features a bronze reproduction of Charles Cordier’s Naiad Queen, along with Victorian-era botanical selections.

Beyond the Victorian building, the resort-wide restoration included the launch of Serẽa Coastal Cuisine, the Shore House under LXR Hotels & Resorts, Southpointe event center, a renovated Beach Village, upgraded rooms in The Cabanas and Views neighborhoods, enhancements to dining venues, a new spa and fitness center, the Ice House Museum, meeting spaces, and retail. The project generated more than 300 resort jobs and thousands of construction jobs.
