Crerar Hotels CEO Chris Wayne-Willis has announced that he is stepping down from his role after five years at the company.

He joined Crerar in March 2020, having previously served as cluster general manager for Marriott International in Scotland and as CEO of Macdonald Aviemore resort, part of the Macdonald Hotels and Resorts portfolio.

Under his leadership, Crerar took on the management of three new hotels, including the five-star Fonab Castle in Pitlochry, Perthshire’s Dunkeld House Hotel and the Daffodil Hotel & Spa in Grasmere in the Lake District. This took the company’s portfolio up to 10.

Wayne-Willis said on LinkedIn: To every member of the Crerar team, thank you. You are the heartbeat of the business, the reason our guests return, the reason we grew, and the reason the Spirit of Scotland was felt so strongly in every part of our service.

“Your resilience, humanity, and belief in what we were building together inspired me every day. With over 30 years experience in hospitality, I know how rare that kind of energy and alignment truly is.”

He added: “Now feels like the right moment to embrace new opportunities personally and professionally. I’ll be taking some time with family, reconnecting with friends, and, as ever, asking my favourite three-word question: What happens next?”

Back in January Crerar revealed that its gross profit rose from £7.8m to £8.8m while its turnover increased 9% and room revenue went up 10% for the year ended 25 March 2024.
