Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced that it is set to open The Manchester Deansgate Hotel, its latest venture in the city.
Located in the heart of Manchester’s city centre within the Beetham Tower, the landmark property begins a new chapter this month as it transitions from Hilton to IHG Hotels and Resorts.
The rebrand is accompanied by the appointment of Konstantin Grimm as general manager – a hospitality leader with over 18 years of experience driving success across luxury hotels, including Manchester’s Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.
This new role marks a homecoming for Grimm, who previously served as manager of the hotel’s luxury Cloud 23 cocktail bar.
The hotel is set to become an InterContinental by 2027, marking a significant milestone as the fifth InterContinental property in IHG Hotels and Resorts’ UK and Ireland portfolio. Throughout this transition period, it will operate as The Manchester Deansgate Hotel.
While a refurbishment is on the horizon, the hotel will continue operating as usual for both guests and staff, with the full team staying in place and service continuing without interruption.
Grimm said: “It’s a privilege to return and lead the hotel into this exciting new chapter. I have fond memories of the hotel in its previous form and I’m looking forward to what comes next. Importantly, it’s business as usual for our valued guests.
“The hotel remains fully operational and will continue to deliver the high standard of service guests know and expect. All future enhancements will be carefully managed to ensure a seamless experience.”
The Manchester Deansgate Hotel will further cement IHG Hotels and Resorts’ position as the largest global hotel company in the UK and Ireland, where it currently operates 363 open hotels and has 33 in development. The hotel will also expand IHG Hotels and Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the market, adding to its existing 27 open hotels.
