Colony Club in Barbados as part of Marriott International’s Luxury Collection, marking the brand’s debut on the island.

“The debut of The Luxury Collection in Barbados with the reopening of Colony Club is a landmark moment for Marriott International and a reflection of our deep commitment to the island’s future,” said Brian King, president of Marriott International, Caribbean and Latin America. “This storied property has been gracefully reinterpreted to celebrate Barbadian heritage and enduring elegance, offering guests a refined escape rooted in authenticity – it sets the stage for a new standard of luxury in Barbados, one that honors tradition while embracing the discerning traveler’s desire for meaningful experiences.”

Located on the Platinum Coast, Colony Club was originally built in the 1930s as a private residence before becoming the island’s first residential club. The property has remained a retreat for more than seven decades. Following a renovation led by Marriott International, the resort features redesigned rooms, expanded wellness areas and new dining options.

“Colony Club has always held a special place in the hearts of its guests,” said Alex Fiz, area general manager of the Barbados Collection Portfolio. “Over the past year, we’ve taken great care to preserve its legacy while thoughtfully enhancing every detail. This reopening is not just about unveiling a beautifully reimagined resort; it’s about welcoming back those who have cherished it for generations and inviting new travelers to discover its ageless allure. We look forward to sharing this next chapter with our loyal guests and the wider community of global explorers.”

Guestrooms combine colonial architecture with modern design, using bespoke furnishings and ocean-inspired palettes. Lagoon-style pools are framed by tropical gardens, with poolside service reflecting Barbadian hospitality.

Dining includes Laguna, the main restaurant serving Bajan dishes with local ingredients, and Sunset Bar & Deck, which offers light bites and cocktails by the beach. Experiences such as Lobster & Jazz, Steak Night and Sunday Brunch feature live entertainment.

The Rum Vault, the first of its kind in Barbados, showcases more than 150 rums. A Rum Ambassador and Vault Chef lead tastings and pairings that highlight the island’s culinary traditions.

The Spa at Colony Club introduces treatments based on the five elements theory, including facials, massages and body therapies. The wellness program also features a gym, cooking classes and Island-to-Table dinners. Water sports, including motorized options such as water skiing and wakeboarding, are available to guests.

Operating under a European Plan, Colony Club allows travelers to design their dining experiences while accessing amenities and personalized service. Reservations are open for stays beginning September 1.

Colony Club, a Luxury Collection Resort, Barbados is part of Marriott Bonvoy, connecting members to destinations worldwide across more than 30 brands.
