When Cache Creek Casino Resort expanded from a 200-room hotel to a 650-room destination, the stakes changed dramatically. Filling rooms with casino players alone was no longer enough. The resort needed a scalable, data-driven revenue strategy, and they needed it fast.

That’s when they turned to Duetto.

We sat down with Will Baez, Hotel Director at Cache Creek to see how they went from having no formal revenue strategy to a fully optimized commercial approach.

Nestled in Northern California’s scenic Capay Valley, Cache Creek is the region’s premier gaming and entertainment destination. With thousands of slot machines, luxury accommodations and activities, diverse dining options, and world-class live entertainment, we offer guests an all-in-one vibrant experience.

From no formal revenue strategy to full commercial optimization

Before implementing Duetto in mid-2023, we didn’t have a dedicated revenue management platform.

At 200 rooms, we could fill the hotel with casino guests pretty easily. But at 648? That required a full commercial plan, yielding strategies, and a revenue management platform.

We needed a solution that would allow us to evaluate guest worth dynamically and apply smarter pricing strategies across both gaming and non-gaming segments. That’s why we chose:

  • GameChanger for open pricing and real-time yield management.
  • ScoreBoard for analytics, performance tracking, and pacing comparisons.
  • BlockBuster for automated group evaluation, dynamic pricing, and displacement management
  • Dynamic rate engine (DRE) for personalized pricing based on guest value and loyalty segmentation.

We chose Duetto for three main reasons:

  1. True guest valuation: Accurately assess both gaming and non-gaming guest worth.
  2. Simple, intuitive platform: Easy for teams at all tech levels to adopt.
  3. Exceptional support: Consistent engagement and guidance beyond go-live, helping us reach and exceed our revenue goals.

Segmenting for profit: Unified view of guest value

One of the biggest shifts has been our ability to group and evaluate guests based on their true value, regardless of whether they come from casino, retail, or other channels.

We can now balance the house more effectively. Everyone’s competing for the same room, so understanding a guest’s theoretical value is critical, especially on peak dates where displacement is a concern.

By analyzing historical data and yield thresholds, we now prioritize high-value players more effectively and maximize revenue from limited inventory.

A simple interface that drives adoption

The platform’s ease of use has played a key role in adoption. Some of our team members aren’t very tech-driven, but Duetto’s interface is so intuitive that it’s easy to train, manage, and use. That simplicity has been a huge selling point.

Our casino hosts and reservations staff can now independently check rate eligibility, which has reduced internal bottlenecks and enabled faster decision-making on the floor.

Open Pricing meets casino loyalty: A new booking strategy

With Duetto in place, we’ve evolved our strategy beyond traditional call-center models and moved toward online loyalty bookings. 

By integrating Open Pricing and pushing real-time offers through digital channels, we’ve reduced our reliance on direct mail and decreased dropped calls caused by overwhelming call volumes.

We’ve seen call volumes rise from 6,000 to over 15,000. With online offers, we can create urgency, reduce call dependency, and drive direct bookings. Even a 20% reduction in call center traffic would free up thousands of calls every month, making a significant operational impact.

Support that goes beyond the scale

While the features are powerful, the level of support we’ve received from the Duetto team has been just as important. We’ve had the same responsiveness post-implementation as we did before we signed. That’s rare, and it’s everything.

A special mention goes to Nevin Reed, Duetto’s Vice President of Casinos, whose operator background gave him practical insights that made our onboarding process seamless and efficient.
