Gunter Hotel reopens after $57 million renovation

US: The Gunter Hotel, a 116-year-old San Antonio landmark, has reopened following a $57 million (£42 million) renovation.

Now part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, the reimagined property has unveiled new guest rooms, dining venues, and cultural experiences.

The hotel features 311 rooms, including 30 suites and 14 ADA rooms, along with a rooftop pool, 24/7 fitness centre, and 20,000 square feet of meeting space.

Paying homage to its musical past, the property now offers an in-house recording studio, a 900-album vinyl library, and in-room record players.

The relaunch comes with new food and beverage venues: Jots, the hotel’s signature American restaurant, and the Keystone Club lobby bar are already open with limited menus, while speakeasy Bar 414 and Paris Baguette, an international bakery and café, will debut later this year.

The program is led by director of culinary development Sarah Myles, chef de cuisine Hayley Unruh, and director of outlets Nicholle Purnell.

The phased reopening will continue through 2025, with additional amenities set to launch in the coming months. Guests can book stays now and earn or redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at the property.
