Lifestyle hospitality brand Aethos has appointed Lily Wecker as chief executive officer as it prepares for international growth.
Wecker, who took up the role on 1 October, joins the group following senior positions at Mandarin Oriental and private equity firm Zetland Capital.
She will oversee Aethos’s expansion across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
The appointment comes as the company opens Aethos London Shoreditch, its largest property and new UK flagship, following the launch of Aethos Mallorca earlier this year.
The group currently operates hotels and member clubs in London, Lisbon, Ericeira, Mallorca, Milan, Monterosa, Saragano, Sardinia and Corsica.
Wecker began her career with McKinsey and Company and Boston Consulting Group, advising real estate and private equity clients.
At Zetland Capital, she oversaw the acquisition and management of more than 20 European hotels, including The Morrison in Dublin and La Tartane in St Tropez.
Additionally, at Mandarin Oriental she led the group’s European growth strategy. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Aethos was founded in 2018 and positions itself as a “next-generation” boutique hospitality group combining hotels and private member clubs.
Benjamin Habbel, co-founder and chair of Aethos, said: “Wecker’s background in luxury hospitality and investment aligned with the company’s strategy. With her leadership, I am confident Aethos will continue to deliver to this goal and deliver across our core pillars: authentic experiences, meaningful community, and culinary excellence.”
