Luxury Family Hotels has reopened Woolley Grange, its Jacobean manor house near Bath, following a full renovation of its rooms, restaurants and gardens.

The refurbishment was led by design studio StudioJill, which has also worked on Fowey Hall in Cornwall, Moonfleet Manor on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, and New Park Manor in the New Forest. The redesign draws on what the studio described as a “new yet nostalgic” approach, intended to highlight the property’s heritage while introducing a refreshed identity.

All 25 rooms and suites have been redesigned, along with the hotel’s public spaces including the restaurant, drawing room, long room, afternoon tea lounge, private dining room and orangery. The spa has been updated with two new treatment rooms, an outdoor hot tub and a new sauna beside the indoor pool.

Children can visit the Woolley Bears Den club, while older guests have access to the Hen House, which includes a pool table and games. Vintage fairground rides and the hotel’s resident bear have been restored alongside new pieces and family artefacts.

Further updates are due in the coming months, including new rooms in the Pavilion and Stone Cottage and improvements to the walled garden.

Jill Higgins, founder and design team leader, StudioJill: “As a design studio we wanted to create a stronger sense of place, celebrating the inherent charm and natural patina of the building whilst layering in modern crafted pieces, pattern and texture. Our approach unifies the old with the new to create a more holistic guest experience, mixing playful details with a relaxed, understated sense of luxury.”
