Salamander Collection has appointed Bertrand Mangeot as the new managing director of Salamander Washington DC, the 373-room hotel on the southwest waterfront of the nation’s capital.
Mangeot brings more than two decades of hospitality experience across three countries and three brands with a focus on luxury guest service, business growth and strategic planning. He joins Salamander from InterContinental San Diego, where he served as general manager since 2023.
“It’s a humbling and exciting time to join the talented Salamander Washington DC team,” said Mangeot. “The hotel’s recent enhancements have helped create a vibrant environment, and I’m excited to build upon the hotel’s strong reputation and foundation, continue to elevate the guest experience, and explore new avenues for partnership and continued success.”
Mangeot spent over 21 years with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, where he held leadership roles in New York, Cleveland, Toronto, Atlanta and San Diego. In addition, he previously led the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Atlanta and the Kimpton Saint George in Toronto. Born in France, he began his hospitality career with Karibea Hotels in Martinique, supporting the finance function.
“Bertrand joins Salamander DC with an impressive track record, and we’re excited to see the energy and direction he’ll bring to this exceptional property,” said George Terpilowski, senior VP of operations at Salamander Collection. “He is deeply committed to creating memorable guest experiences and is a dynamic leader recognized for motivating teams and achieving outstanding performance.”
Salamander Washington DC recently underwent a comprehensive transformation, which features a new living room upon arrival, a redesigned lobby lounge with a secluded and landscaped courtyard, reimagined suites designed by Thomas Pheasant, a dual-level spa and Dōgon—a dining destination led by renowned chef Kwame Onwuachi.
