M Social Hotel New York Downtown has opened following a full transformation and rebrand by Millennium Hotels and Resorts, marking the group’s latest step in expanding its lifestyle portfolio.

The 569-room property, located in the Financial District, offers views of the Hudson River and the city skyline, alongside a new restaurant, Beast and Butterflies, and upgraded meeting and event spaces. The redevelopment positions the hotel as a social and business hub within Lower Manhattan.

Designed by New York firm BHDM Design, the interiors draw on the district’s landmarks and architecture, featuring motifs inspired by The Oculus and the Charging Bull sculpture. Murals, dark woods and metallic finishes are used throughout, while sustainability features include LED lighting and eco-friendly materials.

The launch extends the M Social brand’s digital presence, building on its virtual hotel in the online platform Decentraland. A new game themed around the New York property allows players to explore digital versions of city landmarks and win discounts on future stays.

The lobby has been redesigned as a community space for music and art events. Beast and Butterflies, the hotel’s signature restaurant, offers a modern tapas menu with Spanish influences, complemented by a cocktail bar.

Guest rooms, including 98 suites, feature skyline views, workspaces and sustainable amenities such as refillable aluminium water bottles. The hotel’s six meeting rooms provide 3,550 square feet of space for up to 160 guests, equipped with 98-inch 4K displays and conferencing tools.

Kwek Leng Beng, executive chairman of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, said: “The opening of M Social New York Downtown marks another step forward in Millennium’s transformation journey. This new addition reflects our confidence in the future of travel and our long-term commitment to building distinctive experiences in the world’s most dynamic cities.”

Hotel managing director, Alex Spektor, added: “We’re delighted to officially welcome guests to M Social Downtown. Our hotel is designed as an urban oasis – a place where travellers and locals can connect, unwind, and immerse themselves in the energy of Lower Manhattan.”
