Norwood House, a long-established guest house in the centre of Ambleside, Cumbria, has been sold for the first time in almost 30 years for a guide price of £740k, as its owners step back from the business.
The eight-bedroom property on Church Street includes a guest dining room, lounge and kitchen, along with a two-bedroom apartment historically used as owners’ accommodation. It had been run by owners Keith and Wendy Morgan since 1996.
The couple instructed business agent Graham Wilkinson at Christie and Co earlier this year after a two-year search for a buyer. A sale has now completed, allowing them to retire.
Keith and Wendy Morgan said: “We are delighted to have worked with Graham Wilkinson at Christie and Co to find a suitable purchaser for Norwood House.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Ambleside and welcoming guests to Norwood House. We now look forward to our retirement and new adventures.”
Wilkinson added: “Our targeted approach to the marketing of this guest house enabled us to reach the right audience and quickly find a new owner for Norwood House.”
Local solicitors acted on the transaction, with Stuart Bailey of Thompson Hayton Winkley advising the sellers and Terri Abbot of Harrison Drury acting for the buyers.
