Hilton is expanding to a new country in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) and announced plans for a dual-branded hotel in Georgetown, Guyana. Hilton Georgetown and DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Georgetown also mark Hilton’s entry into Guyana.

Owned by an affiliate of Assets Group and managed by Hilton, the properties offer a combined 411 keys and will be part of an oceanfront mixed-use development in the capital city. The hotel’s signing is part of Hilton’s expansion strategy in the CALA region, where it has 225 existing hotels.

Located in downtown Georgetown, where the Demerara River meets the Atlantic Ocean, the properties can be accessed easily from embassies, businesses and entertainment options. The new-build, 11-story Hilton Georgetown will include 253 rooms and suites, a lobby bar and signature restaurant and an outdoor pool with all-day dining options. The new DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Georgetown will feature 158 suites with the brand’s signature elements.

The properties will also have shared spaces and amenities, which includes access to a member-only Social Club managed by Hilton. Club members can enjoy access to wellness and recreational amenities, such as a pool, fitness center and spa, co-working space and a library and boardroom. The Social Club will also have two full-service dining options, two bars and a coffee and bakery shop, open to guests, members as well as the public.

The complex will also offer a conference center, with 25,900 square feet of ballroom and meeting spaces, which span 10,800 square feet.

Tourism and hospitality are expected to flourish in Guyana and Hilton’s decision to debut in the country aligns with the group’s plan in investing in high-potential destinations, Hilton said in a release. Hilton furthers its partnership with Assets Group for the hotel, expanding the two companies’ combined portfolio in the Middle East and Asia to CALA. Part of Qatar-based Power International Holding, Assets Group has delivered more than 3,200 keys with projects in the residential, hospitality, retail and commercial sectors.

“Guyana is an important regional business hub and a promising tourism destination, and we are excited to join forces with Assets Group once again to celebrate this project and significant milestone in Hilton’s continued rapid expansion,” said Juan Corvinos, senior vice president, development, architecture, design and construction, Caribbean and Latin America region, Hilton.

Hilton’s venture into Guyana builds on the lodging company’s growth momentum in the CALA region, where the company tripled its estate over the past 10 years, added nine new countries and launched seven new brands to its portfolio. The company has an existing portfolio of 170 properties, with plans to mark its arrival in eight new countries in the region, which includes Bermuda and Paraguay later this year and Guyana in 2027.
