The London-based street food market operator is aiming to add a total of three sites to its portfolio in 2025, which will bring its total number of markets to six.

While the locations of the other two sites are yet to be confirmed, Market Place tells Restaurant that one will be located within a listed building.

Market Place launched back in 2020 and now operates sites in Hounslow, Peckham, Vauxhall and Harrow.

St Paul’s will mark the group’s first central London market.

The group’s expansion plans come after managing director Blake Henderson revealed plans last year to expand Market Place nationally with Liverpool, Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow and Nottingham all mooted as target cities.

“We’re looking at some bigger sites as part of the plan to grow fast but organically,” Henderson told MCA, Restaurant’s sister site, in September last year.

“Diversity and authenticity is what customers are looking for.”

Market Place aims to support independent business owners and remove barriers for start-up food and drink vendors to start or grow, directly on prime high streets across the capital.

The group has a roster of more than 60 independent street food traders operating across its four markets.

They include Yorkshire Burrito, Argentinian Grill, and Momo Thai, all of which have grown to multiple locations across London having initially been established within one of Market Place’s markets.
