The restaurant, which is named after the late restaurateur and art dealer and housed in an 18th century town house on Lexington Street, will be closed from Friday (12 July) and is expected to reopen at the end of August.

A statement on the restaurant’s website said: “Andrew Edmunds Restaurant will be closing for a few weeks from Friday 12 July for structural works.

“We will back open and raring to go from the end of August.”

The restaurant is continuing to take advance books for its private dining rooms, as well as its wine tastings and WSET wine courses.

Edmunds opened his eponymous restaurant in 1985 on the success of his antique prints business.

His restaurant was regarded as one of the last bastions of ‘old Soho’ with an unpretentious and charming interior, seasonal menu and a wine list noted for its value for money.

Edmunds passed away in September 2022. He was 79 years old.

The restaurant’s kitchen is led by head chef Tom Trubshaw, who originally joined the restaurant back in 2016.
