Westgate Resorts has signed an agreement to acquire Vacation Ownership Sales (VOS), the exclusive management and sales partner of VI Resorts, North America’s largest owner-controlled timeshare and vacation club. The deal, expected to close later this year, will significantly expand Westgate’s footprint, increasing its number of resort destinations from 22 to more than 60, including new locations in Mexico and Canada.
As part of the acquisition, Westgate Resorts will assume management of VI Resorts’ points-based Vacation Club, which includes more than 40 resorts across the U.S., Hawaii, Mexico and Canada. The company will continue enrolling new owners into the VI Club through its sales and marketing efforts while integrating VI Resorts into its broader vacation offerings. Westgate has committed to investing over $4 million in marketing, branding and technology to enhance the experience for VI Resorts owners.
“This acquisition is a milestone for Westgate as we grow our portfolio and bring more travel options to our owners,” said Jim Gissy, CEO of Westgate Resorts. “We’re excited to work with VI Resorts owners to enhance their vacation experience while also offering new Westgate destinations within the VI Club.”

Following the acquisition, Mike Vasey, owner and president of VOS, will join Westgate’s executive team and continue leading the division. He sees the merger as a natural fit, bringing together two independent, owner-led brands with complementary strengths. “From my first conversations with Westgate, it was clear we shared the same vision,” Vasey said. “This partnership opens up new opportunities and benefits for both VI Resorts and Westgate owners.”
VI Resorts, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has been a leader in points-based vacation ownership since its founding in 1974. Its owner-led board will now leverage Westgate’s management expertise to improve operations and unlock new destinations. Betty Flad, president of the VI Owners Association board, expressed confidence in the partnership after meeting with Westgate’s leadership team and visiting its properties. “We see tremendous value in this collaboration, which allows VI Resorts to maintain its independence while expanding the options available to our owners,” she said.
This acquisition follows Westgate’s recent partnership with Choice Hotels. As part of the transition, VI Resorts owners will be able to exchange their stays at Westgate properties, while Westgate owners will gain access to VI Resorts locations through their Interval International membership.
