Saddlebrook Resort, a 480-acre destination in the Tampa Bay area, is undergoing a $92-million transformation that will include a redesigned lobby, upgraded accommodations, refreshed event spaces, new dining options and a comprehensive overhaul of its golf courses. The project is led by design firm EoA Group.
The resort has 451 guestrooms and is known for its golf, tennis and leisure offerings. The renovations will touch nearly every aspect of the guest experience, including the lobby, accommodations, restaurants, event spaces, outdoor areas and swimming pools. Renowned golf course architect Rees Jones will redesign the courses, which are integral to the resort’s sports offerings. The resort already includes a digital golf learning studio, indoor hitting bay, BalanceLab, and SAM PuttLab for advanced golf play analysis, along with 43 tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, a fitness center and a spa.
“This renovation represents more than just an investment in Saddlebrook—it’s a commitment to restoring and elevating a legacy destination that has long been recognized as a premier setting for group travel, athletic training, and leisure,” said Camilo Miguel Jr., founder and CEO of Mast Capital, the real estate and investment firm that owns Saddlebrook Resort in partnership with Amzak Capital. “Our goal was to thoughtfully enhance the resort’s offerings, blending tradition with innovation to create a destination where golf, tennis and relaxation thrive.”
The resort’s transformation will be evident from the moment guests arrive. A refreshed porte-cochère will feature a new outdoor entrance, lighting, and landscaping. The redesigned lobby will include a memorabilia area that pays tribute to the resort’s history and its sports alumni. Guests will be able to explore a display of trophies and historic relics, offering a connection to the resort’s past. A new coffee shop concept will be introduced off the lobby, providing freshly brewed coffee and grab-and-go items.
Guest rooms and suites will be entirely reimagined, blending contemporary design with residential comfort. The accommodations will include a range of standard guest rooms to three-bedroom suites. New furniture will create a modern feel, complemented by a calming palette and hand-selected artwork. The suites will feature updated kitchens with modern appliances.
Dining experiences at the resort are being revitalized, with multiple concepts and venues set to open. Once complete, Saddlebrook will feature four dining options, including a coffee shop, a poolside restaurant and bar, a sports bar and an all-day dining destination.
The golf courses will undergo a comprehensive redesign to enhance playability. The two existing 18-hole courses will be transformed into a 27-hole layout, allowing for various combinations to create distinct championship courses. Greens will be reconstructed for improved performance, and a state-of-the-art irrigation system will be introduced.
Saddlebrook’s revamped ballrooms will offer more than 40,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting and event spaces. Two signature ballrooms can be segmented into nearly two dozen separate rooms. The resort also provides over 175,000 square feet of outdoor space for meetings and events.
Saddlebrook Resort is located 30 minutes from Tampa International Airport and is surrounded by retail, dining, and outdoor activities. The area has become a destination in its own right, offering shopping, entertainment, and access to nature preserves.
