UK: Real estate asset manager Criterion Capital has acquired Mansell Court in Tower Bridge to support the expansion of its affordable hotel brand Zedwell.
Set to open as Zedwell Tower Bridge, the 200-room property will mark the second Zedwell in the City of London. It follows the acquisition of One Princes Street in November last year.
The addition of Zedwell Tower Bridge takes the brand’s pipeline to more than 9000 rooms across the UK. Upcoming openings are planned in London, York, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
Windowless by design, the Zedwell brand is developed in-house and its “cocoons” (guest rooms) feature body-cushioning mattresses, ambient lighting, purified air, and noise-reducing walls.
Halima Aziz, head of hotels at Criterion, said: “The acquisition of Mansell Court is an exciting addition to our expanding portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our innovative Zedwell concept to a second site in the City of London.
“This milestone not only strengthens our presence in one of the world’s most visited destinations but also reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering accessible, environmentally responsible, and thoughtfully designed urban retreats. We are proud to align closely with the City of London’s ‘Destination City’ strategy and we look forward to contributing to its vision for a thriving and sustainable future,” she added.
