Industry charity Room to Reward recently marked its 10-year anniversary with a 80-guest celebration at The Covent Garden Hotel.
Since its launch in 2015, the charity has partnered with more than 950 hotels and hospitality groups, donating breaks to over 3,500 volunteers nominated by more than 1,100 organisations.
Participating hotels include The Dorchester, The Savoy, Cameron House, Watergate Bay and The Belfry, alongside groups such as Leonardo Hotels, Harbour Hotels, Park Plaza and Best Western.
The initiative sees hotels donate unsold rooms, which are then offered to volunteers nominated by charities, community groups and sports clubs.
Nominations have come from national organisations including Samaritans, NSPCC, St John Ambulance, RSPCA and England Athletics, as well as smaller local groups providing services such as foodbank management and environmental clean-ups.
Room to Reward founder Nicolas Roach said: “Room to Reward was created with a simple but powerful mission – to give a little back to the extraordinary people who give so much of themselves to help others. Ten years on, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together with our hotel partners, charities and supporters.”
The Dorchester’s general manager Luca Virgilio added: “We are delighted to be part of Room to Reward and to welcome Hidden Heroes to The Dorchester. Our hotel has always been the London address for people who make the world turn, and it’s a privilege to extend that legacy.”
