Crerar Hotels has announced the appointment of Sayan Bandyopadhyay as the new head chef at Thainstone House in Inverurie, as part of the group’s wider refresh of its food and drink offering.
The 18th Century hotel has introduced a new menu across its dining spaces following Bandyopadhyay’s arrival.
The new chef joins this Crerar property with more than 20 years of hospitality experience, having previously opened and operated the Hilton Aberdeen TECA and the Aloft Aberdeen TECA in 2019, and held roles at Doubletree by Hilton, Crowne Plaza and the Balmoral Hotel.
Thainstone House is home to the AA Rosette Green Lady restaurant and Stockman’s Bar, which has recently reopened with a revised menu. Dishes include haggis, neeps and tatties and whisky and oak smoked salmon, served in the bar’s refurbished setting.
Natalie Malcolm, general manager of Thainstone House, said: “I am thrilled that Sayan has started at Thainstone House. Relaunching Stockman’s with a new relaxed menu has received great feedback so far and we are positive that the new menu will go down well with both hotel guests and locals.
“We also have a calendar of events at the hotel throughout December, so I am looking forward to welcoming more people to reexperience Thainstone House.”
The hotel plans a series of festive events across the Green Lady restaurant and Stockman’s Bar, including festive afternoon tea, breakfast with Santa, Christmas party nights and a Hogmanay gala ball.
