BWH Hotels has announced its expansion into the Dominican Republic with the upcoming La Estancia, BW Premier Collection in La Romana. The property broke ground recently and is scheduled to open in 2026.
The hotel will feature more than 60 guest rooms across four floors, with plans for 40 additional rooms to be added soon. It will be part of the La Estancia Golf Resort, designed by golf course architect Pete Dye, offering guests access to a world-class golf experience.
Amenities will include a lobby, restaurant, cigar bar, golfer’s bar, gym, pool, an outdoor bar, tennis courts and event space. A rooftop event space is also planned for the fourth floor.
“BWH Hotels is proud to welcome La Estancia and the Dominican Republic into our global portfolio,” said Brad LeBlanc, senior vice president and chief development officer at BWH Hotels. “This stunning, upscale destination will offer guests exceptional service and an unparalleled experience amid the breathtaking beauty of the Dominican Republic. With extraordinary panoramic views, an 18-hole golf course near the Chavón River and the dramatic Tanamá ravine, La Estancia is thoughtfully designed to harmonize recreation and relaxation in a magnificent natural setting. It will be a true gem for travelers seeking both tranquility and adventure.”
The La Estancia project aims to complement the region’s existing attractions while contributing to sustainable tourism and economic growth.
The hotel is an important step towards sustainable development in the Dominican Republic and La Romana and offers an alternative to the all-inclusive hotel model, said Luis Andres Olivares, the hotel’s owner and developer.
“Situated within one of the finest golf resorts in the country, this hotel will cater to travelers seeking quality and authenticity. Our collaboration with BWH Hotels underscores our commitment to advancing the progress and well-being of the Dominican Republic, creating new opportunities for sustainable tourism and regional growth,” Olivares added.
La Romana is one of the most visited regions in the Dominican Republic, known for its turquoise beaches and culture. The city, located on the island’s southern coast, is close to attractions like Altos de Chavón, a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village, and the Bayahibe Beach, accessible via the Seaside Beach Club. The nearby Catalina Island offers beaches, snorkeling and the shipwreck of pirate William Kidd.
BWH Hotels consists of three hotel companies — WorldHotel, Best Western Hotels & Resorts and SureStay Hotels — and has 4,300 hotels under 18 brands in more than 100 countries.
