A very warm welcome from everyone at Mews to the team and customers of Clarity Hospitality Software Solutions. It’s a fantastic way to begin another year of incredible growth, and we can’t wait to see how everyone works together to deliver remarkable hospitality across New Zealand, the UK and beyond.

So why did Mews choose Clarity? The reasons will become very clear by the end of this article…

The acquisition

Acquisition is an important part of our growth strategy at Mews. The Mews Ventures team has now overseen 12 acquisitions in total, and Clarity is the seventh PMS to enter the Mews universe. Without fail, our incredibly hardworking team navigates this hugely complex process with fastidiousness and humanity, and I’m forever grateful for their efforts.

Mews has been providing remarkable hospitality for guests and staff in the UK and New Zealand for many years. We know the regions well and already have teams on the ground across the UK and APAC.

Guests in these areas are crying out for more modern, connected hotel experiences, but the tech setup of most properties doesn’t allow for this. In part, this is because the hotel technology segment remains fragmented, with many hoteliers stuck in a mindset of accepting the status quo.

As soon as the Ventures team recognized the opportunity to bring Clarity into the fold, we knew we had to take it. The acquisition helps as to accelerate our growth in the regions and transform countless more businesses and experiences.

The company fit

Clarity was founded in 1992, which means they began as a purely on-premises solution. However, they saw the need to adapt to changing technology and hotelier requirements and introduced a cloud-based platform as well. This willingness to adapt is an important mindset, and part of what makes the Clarity team a great fit for Mews.

The people are the most important part of any acquisition. We have already welcomed the Clarity team into our internal world, and over the coming weeks and months the true value of our new colleagues will undoubtedly reveal itself. Namely, a real regional expertise in New Zealand and the UK that will supplement our existing knowledge to create a formidable outfit across sales, product development and more.

The customer fit

Clarity is a great product, which means they serve hundreds of happy hoteliers, from independent hotels to management groups and exclusive resorts. They’ve built a diverse customer base of forward-thinkers, and Mews is perfectly positioned to not only maintain their high levels of service, but exceed them.

Properties that migrate to Mews will also benefit from a uniquely smooth transition with the aid of their existing Clarity representatives. And with recent acquisitions that include Atomize revenue management and Quotelo events management, it’s a truly exciting time to join Mews.

The future

It’s already been an amazing start to the year, with this acquisition swiftly followed by the news that Mews was named Best PMS for the second year running at the HotelTechAwards. Our new colleagues from Clarity are adding more fuel to our rocket ship, and we have big plans for the year ahead.

The motivation behind everything was neatly summed up by Clarity’s Owner and CEO, Dougall Love, who said: “Great hospitality technology is all about streamlining tasks to increase productivity, provide a top-class experience to guests and driving repeat and referral business, making for more efficient and profitable hospitality businesses. Mews truly shares our vision of providing remarkable guest experiences and we’re excited to continue supporting our customers with world-class resources as we join forces with Mews.”
