Minor Hotels has appointed Nicholas Smith as Vice President of Operations for Asia, reinforcing its senior leadership structure as it targets significant regional growth. In his new role, Smith will oversee operations across the group’s Asia portfolio and lead a team of regional executives.

With over 25 years of industry experience, Nicholas Smith joins Minor Hotels following a long tenure at Shangri-La Group, where he held various operational leadership positions in Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. His most recent post was as Vice President of Food & Beverage and Operations across multiple international markets. His background also includes senior roles with Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and project leadership on NEOM’s Sindalah Island in Saudi Arabia.

“We are delighted to welcome Nicholas to Minor Hotels at such a pivotal time in our journey.  As a seasoned hospitality professional with a proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences, Nicholas brings invaluable expertise to our operations. Asia is a focal region for our growth, with more than 100 additional properties targeted across the continent by the end of 2027. His leadership will drive operational excellence and support our ambitious expansion plans.” – Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International

Nicholas Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel and catering management from Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.

This leadership move aligns with Minor’s broader development goals in Asia, where the company is focused on both new openings and operational performance across a mix of urban, resort, and branded residence formats. Smith’s appointment reflects the group’s intent to strengthen regional capabilities as it scales its footprint across key Asian markets.
