The World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (WSHA) has announced the appointment of sustainability consultant Radhika Arapally as its senior strategic representative for the United Arab Emirates.
The move marks an expansion of the Alliance’s presence in the Middle East and forms part of its wider goal to promote ‘Net Positive Hospitality’ – a model in which the hospitality sector contributes more to destinations than it takes.
Arapally, founder and chief consultant at Sustainability Kiosk, will be responsible for building partnerships, driving programme implementation, and advancing the Alliance’s regional engagement strategy.
She brings more than two decades of international experience in hospitality and sustainability. Since launching Sustainability Kiosk in 2022, Arapally has curated a platform of over 70 vetted solutions aimed at helping hotels reduce waste, lower costs and advance towards net zero. Her clients have included groups such as Minor Hotels, The First Group and Millennium Hotels.
She also founded the Responsible Hoteliers Summit, the UAE’s first dedicated operational sustainability conference, bringing together sector leaders and solution providers for industry collaboration.
According to the Alliance’s chief executive, Glen Mandziuk, this latest appointment will support “practical solutions” across the UAE’s hospitality sector.
Mandziuk said: “Radhika’s appointment represents an important milestone in the Alliance’s strategy to strengthen our regional impact. Her entrepreneurial spirit, deep industry insight, and proven ability to turn ambition into practical solutions make her a natural fit to champion our work in the UAE.”
Arapally added: “It is a privilege to represent the Alliance in the UAE at such a critical time for our industry. The UAE has the vision and momentum to become a global leader in sustainable tourism. By combining the scale and influence of the Alliance with the innovation and energy of local stakeholders, we can co-create solutions that are scalable, inclusive, and transformative – and ensure that Net Positive Hospitality becomes a reality.”
The Alliance represents over 66,000 hotels and more than 8 million rooms across 300 brands. Its members include global hospitality companies, investors, suppliers and non-governmental organisations.
