Mews Systems Ltd

Amsterdam – Mews, the leading operating system for hospitality, has entered a multi-year partnership with KLABU, the social enterprise building clubhouses in refugee camps around the world. The collaboration sees Mews become the main partner of KLABU’s Boa Vista Spirit clubhouse in Brazil, supporting the inhabitants of Latin America’s largest shelter for indigenous refugees and migrants.

KLABU’s mission is to support refugees rebuild their lives through the power of sport. Displaced people spend an average of 17-20 years in refugee camps, sometimes a person’s entire youth, and KLABU provides an invaluable sense of home and community.

Their vibrant clubhouses offer access to sports, creativity and technology, creating spaces of joy, belonging and resilience in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. For Mews, the partnership is a natural extension of its passion for delivering great hospitality – creating meaningful connections and experiences wherever you are in the world.

Hospitality is about making people feel welcome, safe and seen. That’s exactly what KLABU is doing for displaced communities. This partnership is about more than vital funding – it’s about showing what modern, human-centred hospitality can achieve when it moves beyond the four walls of a hotel. Ella McCann-Tomlin, VP of ESG at Mews

The partnership forms part of the wider Mews ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy, which aims to integrate social value across the company’s ecosystem. Mews will provide long-term support and collaboration for the Boa Vista clubhouse through funding, digital storytelling, creative campaigns and employee engagement.

The collaboration also lays the foundation for long-term innovation. Future opportunities include the potential to expand the Mews ecosystem to support clubhouse operations, connecting the initiative to Mews customers through scalable, high-impact programs.

Jan van Hövell, founder of KLABU, added: We believe in the power of partnerships to spark real change. Mews brings not just resources, but a shared belief in the strength of community. Together, we’ll help write a new chapter in Boa Vista driven by sport, hospitality and human connection.

The Boa Vista Spirit clubhouse stands out for its potential and purpose. Based in northern Brazil, it serves more than 1,000 Venezuelan refugees each year, many of whom are part of the indigenous Warao community. Mews will act as the main sponsor, enabling the operations of the clubhouse, including employment of clubhouse managers, organisation of trainings and activities, and the maintenance and improvement of the sports facilities. The goal is to support the long-term sustainability of the clubhouse by helping it transition to local community ownership.

About KLABU

KLABU which means ‘club’ in Swahili, is the cross-border sports club changing the playing field for refugees and local communities globally. The Amsterdam based organisation builds community-led clubhouses in refugee camps and cities where young people can find joy, pride and hope through sports, no matter the circumstances. Each clubhouse has its own unique KLABU sportswear, available to supporters worldwide who want to play their part. The goal: to build the world’s biggest sports club.
