The property, owned by Singapore-based Fragrance Group and operated by IHG, is located close to Torquay Museum, Kents Cavern, Princess Pier and Torre Abbey Sands in the centre of the South Devon town.
The hotel’s design reflects the area’s maritime heritage, with interiors influenced by the surrounding coastline.

IHG said the opening supports wider regeneration efforts in Torquay. Rooms and suites include Nespresso machines, bath robes and slippers, with design details intended to reference nearby bays and beaches. The site is also dog-friendly.
Additionally, the hotel includes a ground-floor restaurant, Root and Reef Bistro, which focuses on local produce, while a rooftop bar, The Cast, is scheduled to open in spring 2026 and will offer views across Tor Bay.
A wellness suite with treatment rooms and a fitness centre is also available.
Koh Wee Meng, Fragrance Group chair and chief executive, said: “We are extremely proud to have signed and opened our first hotel with IHG Hotels and Resorts on the beautiful English Riviera, and we are excited to see where this partnership will lead.”
James Farley, general manager, added: “We are delighted to introduce the Hotel Indigo brand to the heart of Torquay, a destination celebrated for its nostalgic charm and exceptional coastal setting.
“This thoughtfully designed hotel combines a relaxed coastal ambience with a refined, design-led aesthetic and a strong connection to the local community, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the English Riviera. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to experience the hotel, unwind in comfort, and create lasting memories.”
