According to BCD Travel’s latest survey of more than 200 travel buyers worldwide, more than half of travel buyers have seen their travel budgets decrease in recent years

Jun 19, 2024

Nearly all buyers have implemented cost control measures to encourage online meetings in favor of non-essential travel, encourage fewer but longer trips, and limit the number of employees on a trip.

Key takeaways

  • Other measures include implementing strict expense controls, booking lower class air travel and encouraging the use of public transportation instead of taxis;
  • Overall, nearly two-thirds of travel buyers expect sustainability, safety and security to have the greatest impact on corporate travel policies in the coming years, while bleisure and DE&I (diversity, equity and inclusion) are unlikely to have a significant impact on existing travel policies;
  • However, sustainable travel still has a long way to go, with less than half of respondents recording sustainable travel as part of their company’s travel policy.
